Super Mario was(to me) just like Tomb Raider. it would have been great as a movie only. but the need to adapt characters and introduce themes really killed the movie that should have been made. if they could have just made a movie, instead of making a super hero movie or video game movie, or what ever the genera would have been it they weren’t games to begin with

I enjoy super mario bros movie. I love it for a movie as it’s self, and not as an adaptation. Glad you pointed that out.

Whoa… I didn’t think to consider The Super Mario Brothers Movie as an entirely original idea, as opposed to an appaling misadaptation of the video game. You see, that’s what separates this movie review series from most others: Critical outside-the-box thinking.
As for the film, at least it’s not as bad as the short-lived Super Mario Brothers Super Show. That series at its best is about a dozen times worse than the film at its worst.

I actually saw the Super Mario Bros. movie on tv and didn’t have a damn clue what it was.

@JPizzle1122 Glad to hear it.

I don’t think a Mario Bros. movie loyal to the games would have been a good movie; think about it, this isn’t really any plot, and what plot there is is juvenile. Sounds like they did the best they could to make a legit movie that wasn’t exclusively targeted at fans of the games.

When Koopa turned into that dino, it was disapointing.
