“We kept it in the Naruto universe and chose things that were fictionally appropriate for the characters [while] leveraging their existing advantages, and kind of making their Late Ninja Powers extensions of how they play as fighting game characters to begin with. In a lot of respects it’s an exercise in balancing and tuning and taking some characters who are maybe mediocre and making them a little bit more dangerous as they get closer and closer to death. In other cases it was a [matter of] taking certain characters that play a certain way and trying to make them play in a new and different way closer to death. These guys much watch/read a TON of Naruto stuff. I can only imagine how hard it is to keep up on all this stuff. If they mess up on one tiny aspect, the Naruto horde will let them have it!
