The final numbers are in, and they’re a bit lower than we first heard, but a record has still been set. Dragon Quest IX has managed to move 2.3 million copies in just 2 days, which is quite a monumental achievement. While it’s not big enough to take the top spot for best opening sales, it is high enough to crown for fastest-selling Dragon Quest title. Dragon Quest VIII managed to sell 2.2 million in 2 days, which made the sales fight close, but IX came out the winner in the end. This is reported to be an 80% sell through of the initial shipment.
