?The Godfather: Blackhand Edition? Review

by

Charlie George

Playing “The Godfather: Blackhand Edition” or “Godfather” as I will call is very different than I thought it would be. I will warn you now and maybe save you some time. If you have played “The Godfather” on either the original XBox or PS2, you are getting the same game. However, you are getting an entirely different experience.

The plot line of “The Godfather” weaves in and out of the original movies story, basically filling in the empty spots where the movie left off. You witnessed your fathers gangland murder when you were a child and now as an adult you want revenge on the murder. In comes Don Corleone, which is a perfect resemblance of the late Marlon Brando who offers you a job and you eventually rise in the ranks, you get the picture.

Now here is what is so great about the game. The playing style with the Wii Remote and Nunchuck is fabulous. If you are a fan of “Wii Sports’s” Boxing, then you are going to love this. You use the Wii Remote/Nunchuck combo to puch, kick, throw, and choke. Now when it comes to weapons there is a slight learning curve, but one which should not be a problem, it takes about 15-20 minutes to get the hang of it.

If you are a fan of “Wii Play’s” Shooting, then my friend you are in luck. They really hit the nail on the head when it came to the targeting style. I found it REALLY easy to pick up and shoot. Not too much of a learning curve on that because it is really easy.

Driving is once again flawless as you use the Nun-chuck and Wii Remote to steer and accelerate, EA didn’t get cute here. Really easy no problems, takes about 5 minutes to get into the swing of things. Every vehicle has its ups and downs, like speed, handling, and braking.

The graphics for the Wii are surprisingly good, as they are the same ones that were on the previous edition. But don’t let that steer you away from buying this although I would recommend it at a $35-$40 range. It’s a definite renter, and a buyer.

So the final score comes to an 8.5
